Kitchen Renovation Explained
Here are the steps for a basic kitchen renovation. Please refer to the “How it works” section above for preceding steps leading up to this point:

Permit & Approval
You only need a building permit if you’re altering the house’s structure or adding new elements. However, even minor changes for kitchen renovations in a Strata building require permission.

Demolition & Disposal
After the permit is obtained and blueprints are finished, we’ll start the process of demolishing the existing kitchen. This involves removing all outdated components and materials. Planning ahead makes this process easier.

Electrical & Plumbing
We will begin the installation of the essential plumbing and electrical fittings as soon as the demolition is finished. As soon as all of the components have been taken apart, we will be able to finish this phase in a timely and effective manner.

Walls & Painting
After the plumbing and electrical systems have been completed, the next step will be to patch and drywall all the holes from the plumbing and electrical work. After that, we start the process of priming and painting the walls and ceiling of your kitchen.

Flooring & Tiling
When all the rough work is completed, it is time to install the flooring. The most popular choices are hardwood and tile, as they are durable and provide a sleek, designer look to the kitchen. It’s important to choose the right type of flooring that matches the design.

Cabinetry
Once the walls and floors are completed, the next step is typically to install the cabinets, with upper cabinets being installed before the lower ones. This step is a major part of the kitchen renovation and typically takes up the largest portion of the budget for the entire project.

Countertop
Once the cabinets are installed, the next step is to create a template for the countertop, fabricate it, and then install it. This process usually takes 3-5 days as the countertops have to be custom-made and cut to fit your cabinetry and sink space.

This step is crucial as it ensures that the appliances fit seamlessly into the design and layout of the kitchen. Installing the appliances in advance allows the team to make sure that all the necessary connections are in place before the countertops are installed.

Final Plumbing
Our licensed plumbers will connect your sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, and any other appliances that require a water line to ensure that they are properly installed and functional. This step is essential to guarantee a smooth operation preventing future leaks or damage.

Backsplash
Tile or quartz backsplash installation can be done before or after the plumbing, depending on the project and it doesn’t take much time. If it is quartz, it will be templated after the countertop installation and fabrication, which takes a few days.

Electrical & Lighting
The final step in the kitchen renovation is the installation of new light fixtures, outlets, sockets, and under-cabinet lights by our licensed electricians. This ensures proper lighting and electrical connections in the kitchen, bringing the renovation project to a close.
